Hello Tony
Amazing how useful the net can be!
We have just returned from a week in Bali and despite a stolen wallet, and being hounded by timeshare sales calls, we had a great time.
Just to add my 2 cents, we also received the holiday prize, not once but three times in as many days.
The first was the peninsular hotel .. Yes we went through the “I don’t believe it” stage, but went along anyway to see what would eventuate. When we met the “manager” he was rude, coarse and quite frankly irritating, but he dropped us like a stone when I mentioned “so this is basically timeshare and you’re wanting a deposit?” I realised then and there it was a timeshare scam….. There is no price draw process from scratch card entries, but I believe a selective process of sifting through immigration records. They look at your hotel location, your name, country of origin (all from your immigration card on entry) and selectively target holiday makers presumably based on their perception of your potential status and income …. Amazing how they change their sales approach when you feed them info they don’t want to hear, like you’re presently unemployed! All they wanted to know is what you did for a living, and where you lived. When it came time to see the hotel, the manager didn’t even bother to get up from the lunch table…. (burger and coke!!!) there was no price giving, no pics nothing, …….. but the next load to “holiday winners” was already there drinking at the reception. Luckily our cab was waiting, so we got out of that one ASAP after wasting most of the afternoon.
But the next day we got another phone call from Royal Resorts saying we won a prize, …. We didn’t entertain any further discussion on the phone. Yet again the day after we were tracked down again by yet another hotel group / chain….. on the same thing.
They don’t even need a scratch card I'm told. Immigration sells info to vendors who track you down..
Anyway its all still alive an well…. Good thing I didn’t succumb to parting with any $$$
Regards
Guy
